Volunteer Certification for 2012 - click here for info
Get ready for Volunteer Boot Camp 2012 (No, we aren't going to make you peel potatoes or march through a swamp!) in January and February. Kelly and Jessica have been researching horse handling methodology and are ready to offer outstanding training, designed to keep returning volunteers sharp, and new volunteers armed with information and tools to be safe and effective in their volunteer positions. CHAPS is recruiting volunteers for the following positions:
- Horse leaders for sessions
- Side Walkers for sessions
- Stable help and feeders
- Office Assistants
We are also seeking a Volunteer Coordinator for mornings Monday - Friday.

Wyoming Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities - CHAPS Executive Director and rider Tahia Grosch made a presentation at the Wyoming Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities annual meeting December 2 in Casper to talk about the benefits of therapeutic riding for persons with developmental disabilities.

Fall Horse Show - CHAPS is holding our 3rd annual Fall Horse Show on Friday October 1 at the LaRue Young and Dan Balkenbush arenas, located at our riding center, 501 US Hwy 14 East. This exciting opportunity for our clients to compete and display their skills and talents for their families and friends is made possible by generous donations from the community.

Volunteer Roundup - this is the second in our educational seminars for volunteers, staff, parents, anyone with an interest in therapeutic riding, equine assisted activities and CHAPS. It will be on Wednesday August 25th, 6:00 PM at Sheridan College in the Whitney Building room 150. Refreshments and Pizza will be served and our speakers are Catherine Johnson from KARES/RENEW to talk about working with clients with Autism, and Dr. Kathy Scholljergerdes, LCSW, from the Sheridan VAMC to discuss what to expect from clients presenting with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This event is free to CHAPS volunteers, and there is a $5.00 charge for the public.
